Meet Anne Biggs: an independent professional writer and consultant
with more than 30 years’ experience in journalism, public relations,
business writing and training.
My editing talents: I have an eye (and ear) for editing. I do it
in my sleep, when reading the newspaper or a menu, as I open my mail,
while listening to the radio. Running writing workshops taught me
to evaluate quickly and instinctively, often from sentences read
aloud, so that I am able to edit effectively and efficiently—even
over the telephone.
My interviewing skills: I like to establish relaxed, friendly relationships
with my interview subjects. That way, they feel comfortable enough
to respond candidly
to the questions I ask. An interview should be
an opportunity to share knowledge, not an intrusion. I enjoy people’s
stories and honestly want to hear what you
have to say.
My writing skills: I write, therefore I am. I know how to craft
ideas into a form that can be readily understood and applied most
effectively to your purpose. I’ve honed these skills through
30 years in newspaper work, more than 20 years in public relations,
4 years teaching business writing seminars to executives around the
country and 15 years as a communications consultant with my own company.
My experience: I’ve written and consulted for a range of clients

One of my most extensive (and pleasurable) projects was researching,
writing and editing Through Their Eyes: A Story
of Doylestown Hospital (Doylestown, Pa.: Tower Hill Press,
1998). This 224-page, 47,000-word hardcover book chronicled this
unique central Bucks County hospital’s
first 75 years.
In early 2007 I wrote Responding
with Hope,
a 44-page resource document that presents the national model for
community-to-community disaster relief developed by the Bucks Mont
Katrina Relief Project. This group’s
ground-breaking efforts on behalf of its adopted communities in Mississippi
have captured the attention of relief agencies nationwide; Responding
with Hope is currently in the hands of lawmakers in Washington,
D.C.
Contact me to
discuss your next project.
